Bridgeton N. A. Meeting Minutes
Minutes
June 21, 2006 Bridgeton Neighborhood Association Meeting

The meeting of the Bridgeton Neighborhood Association was called to order at 7:04 PM on Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at the Columbia School.

There were 47 residents and guests in attendance.

First on the agenda was a presentation by the Columbia River Crossing project, the plan under development for a new I-5 bridge.
Stacy Codington, from ODOT (stacy.l.codington@odot.state.or.us) and Lynn Rust, Design Engineer Manager, Columbia River Crossing Project spoke about the project and the options that are still “on the table.”

For updates on the project, go to:  http://www.columbiarivercrossing.org/

The audience had many questions and a lively discussion ensued. Neighbors are concerned about the potential impact on us from any of the options under review and we are welcome to attend task force meetings and/or have them come to our homes for small group discussions about any and all neighborhood concerns.

The next Task Force meeting will be held 4 - 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 16, at Washington Department of Transportation SW Region office, 11018 NE 51st Circle, Vancouver, WA.  The meetings are also replayed on community access TV channel 30. Next on the agenda was Patty Freeman, Landscape Architect with Portland Parks and Recreation <pkpatty@ci.portland.or.us> who presented us with many ideas to think about and discuss in relation to improving the proposed bicycle and pedestrian path along the top of the levee from the end of Bridgeton Road over to I-5 and beyond.  Again there were many neighborly concerns about this project and what it might look like, who would use it and what else it might entail besides a path.

The discussion got very lively as we neared the end of the evening and most felt we had just begun to form a “vision” so to speak of what works for the neighborhood – we seemed to agree that we want grass, sky, trees and transparency.  We will invite Patty back in the Fall to continue this dialogue.

The meeting adjourned at 9 P.M.

Next meeting is a Board meeting on September 20 at Channel’s Edge.
